Blackjack Card Points

Blackjack uses standard playing cards which value from the numbers 2 thru 10 and have the royal cards such as jacks, queens, kings and aces. The red and black suits include diamond, hearts, clubs and spades. In most cases, the suit doesn't matter unless you are playing a special variation of blackjack. The only important part is the point system that is set up.

All of the cards from two through ten have points equal to those numbers. However, the jack, queen and king are worth 10 points. So in a standard 52 card deck, 16 of those cards are worth 10 points

Blackjack Ace and Ten Cards

The most powerful combination of cards are the aces and tens. A 'blackjack' is a term used when a player scores the highest possible points using only two cards, which would be a ten and an ace. This is why blackjack is sometimes known as the game 'twenty one (21)'. An ace can either be worth 1 point or 11 points. This card is almost like a wild card, the player gets to choose what the point value is.

Our advice is to learn this chart, then move on to learning card counting and the blackjack deviations associated with the game you will be playing (H17 vs S17). There are also slight variations in strategy. The only thing that matters at the blackjack table is the point value of each card and of each hand. The goal of the game is to get a point total that is higher than the dealer's without going bust, or getting a hand value of over 21. The ace is worth 1 point or 11. The only time the player will not receive an immediate payout on a blackjack 21 hand is when the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, or any card worth 10 points. The reason for this is that if the dealer also holds a blackjack hand, then the round is considered to be a draw or a “push.”. The player is allowed to stop hitting at any point. The number cards (2 through 10) are worth the number displayed, face cards are worth 10, and an Ace can be worth either 1 or 11.

Blackjack basic strategy assumes that there are more ten point cards in play than any other point value. Therefore, remembering this fact is crucial to building skills, winning blackjack and having a pleasurable gaming experience.

Blackjack Card Counting

Blackjack Card Points

I would like to point out that the card counting system is rooted in keeping track of the 10 point cards. When you are dealt a hand and you happen to draw ten points, you have a much better chance of winning, especially if you are dealt an ace. Knowing that there are more tens in the deck, you can predict what the dealer may have. Such as if the dealer has a 6 card showing, there is a high probability that he will draw a 10 card and then have a high chance of busting during the next draw. In contrast, the dealer may have an ace showing (11 points) and you can use limited prediction that he will draw a 10 card and get a total of 21 points and win.

Card counting really isn't that complicated, you just need to keep track. Depending on how many decks are in play, you are just counting how many ten cards have been dealt throughout the game and compare that to how many there still are in the deck. Therefore when the dealer has that ace showing, you can determine how likely that a ten point card will be drawn. This is a very powerful advantage that can actually defeat the house edge! Imagine if the dealer has an ace showing, but you already determine that there are no more tens in the deck. You would not have to decide whether to use insurance and that the dealer is guaranteed not to get a blackjack.

How to Play[edit edit source]

Blackjack requires 5 players to begin. Each player selects a Hunter and Survivor they would like to use in game before the game begins. The player cannot change the Persona Web given to them when playing Blackjack. A standard Persona Web is used on all characters during Blackjack.

At the start of the game, the players all receive a card from the 'host' of the game. The player can choose to draw a second card to increase their card points. The player with the highest total card points after everyone is done drawing cards will be the Hunter for the round. Like in real life Blackjack, players are not supposed to have their card points rack up beyond 21 and should strive to obtain 21 points.

Players playing as Survivors are required to contain the Hunter and decode cipher machines found around the map. The player playing as the Hunter is required to hunt Survivors. Players obtain store points by carrying out these tasks. The store points can be exchanged for boosts and items in the Blackjack Store found on the top left corner of the screen while the player is in game.

Earning Points[edit edit source]

Decoding a cipher machine will award the Player with 100 store points. Co-op decoding will speed up the process and both players will be awarded the same amount of points. Missing a calibration or leaving the cipher will decrease the total amount of points the player can receive from the decoding.

Containing the Hunter will award the Player a small amount of store points. Points are only awarded for escaping the Hunter, instead. Stunning and containing the Hunter will not award the Player with points, unfortunately.

Attacking Survivors will award the Player with 50 points per hit. Players will be incapacitated after one hit. Hitting Magician's illusions will not award points.

Other things to note[edit edit source]

  • Decoding speed is faster in Blackjack mode. Cipher locations and decoding progress is refreshed when a round ends.
  • Healing speed is faster in Blackjack mode. Players have unlimited self heal capabilities. Players will be returned to full health after self healing.
  • On the same note, Survivors only require 1 Hit to be incapacitated. They can, however, still be hit by abilities that only garner 0.25 damage, which will translate to 0.5 damage in Blackjack. Hell Ember's dolls deal 0.5 damage in Blackjack mode.
  • Survivors will be instantly healed when the round ends.
  • All abilities of characters have been somewhat adjusted to fit better in Blackjack mode.
  • Hunter's secondary trait will be Teleport.
  • Currently, Dream Witch and Postman cannot be used in Blackjack.

Regular Round[edit edit source]

Each regular round lasts 120 seconds. Players will receive one more card after every regular round. The player with the highest total card points at the end of these rounds will take on the Hunter role in the next round.

Special Rounds[edit edit source]

Special rounds lasts 60 seconds. This includes rounds in which there is one (or more) player(s) with 21 store points and rounds in which there are only two players left.

21 Point Rounds[edit edit source]

The player with 21 store points will be highlighted in yellow. Furthermore, the icon of the player will have a glowing number '21' on it. If the card points of the player is changed during this round, whether it be through deduction or addition, the player highlight effect will disappear. If the round ends and the player still has 21 points, all other players will lose and the player will earn a 'Blackjack' and win.
